Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of TravelerShare. By creating an account, listing a house, or contacting a Host, you agree to them. They cover the two roles on the platform — Host and Guest — and the payments that flow through it. You must be 18 or older to use the site.

Hosts and Guests

A Host owns or manages a furnished house and lists it by the room. The Host does not live in the house. A Guest is a Traveler who takes a share of that house and has equal access to the common spaces alongside the other Guests. The same person can be both a Host and a Guest.

Housing requests and messaging

A Guest's housing request simply opens a conversation with the Host. There is no accept or decline step on TravelerShare, no booking confirmation, and no reservation held on your behalf. Whether a stay happens, on what dates, and on what terms is agreed directly between the Host and the Guest, outside this platform.

Members may exchange phone numbers, emails, or any other contact details freely. Harassment, discrimination, misrepresentation, or fraud may result in removal from the platform.

Verification is optional

Guests can create an account, message Hosts, and send housing requests without verifying anything. Verification is entirely optional and is never a condition of joining.

A Guest who chooses to verify submits a government ID with a matching photo and, if they wish, a work credential. A one-time $4.99 fee applies when a Guest starts that process. Hosts may invite a Guest to verify from inside a conversation; the Guest is free to decline. Verified status may be withdrawn if a document is found to be fraudulent.

Host subscription — per house

Each published house needs its own active annual plan — $399/year. The plan takes effect as soon as it is paid: the house appears in search and the Host can reply to Guests. Plans auto-renew each year until canceled, and can be canceled at any time. If a plan lapses, that house is hidden from search until it is renewed; nothing is deleted. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. Hosts keep 100% of their rent — the subscription is the only fee TravelerShare charges Hosts, and Guests pay no service fee on rent.

Rent flows directly between Host and Guest

TravelerShare is a listing and messaging service, not a payment processor for rent. Rent, deposits, and any nightly or weekly settlement are arranged and paid directly between Host and Guest. We do not hold, escrow, or transfer rent, and we are not a party to the rental agreement between you. Disputes over rent are resolved between the Host and Guest, with our Help Center available for guidance.

Host responsibilities

  • List accurate room and bathroom counts, what is available now, photos of the actual house, and the current rate.
  • Keep availability and the careers of current Guests up to date, including the “No current Guests — all rooms available” option.
  • Comply with local rental rules, taxes, insurance, and any lender, landlord, or HOA consent required.
  • Respond to housing requests and messages in good faith.

Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, listing text, and messages you post. By posting them you give TravelerShare permission to display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. Do not post content you do not have the right to use.

Payments we process

We process the optional $4.99 Guest verification fee and the $399/year per-house Host plan through Stripe. We do not process rent.

Suspension and termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or remove an account or listing that breaks these terms, misrepresents a property or a person, or puts other members at risk.

Our role and liability

TravelerShare provides listings, optional verification, and messaging. We are not a party to the rental agreement between Host and Guest and are not liable for the condition of a property, a Host's or Guest's conduct, or the payment of rent. We act in good faith on verification and review decisions but do not guarantee any member's background, behavior, or fitness. The service is provided “as is,” and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top shows the current version; continuing to use the site after an update means you accept it.
